Sewing Patches

Sewing Patches on garments is a simple process.  If you have a good machine and one that allows an arm sleeve width, you can sew just about any patch on a uniform or item.  The heavier the garment, the larger the needle size.

To firmly apply the patch so it will not shift on the garment, spray the patch on the back with a fabric adhesive utilized for embroidery or quilting.  Fasten the patch to the fabric in the positioning desired.  Reinforce with additional sewing pins.

Thread the sewing machine with the same color of the patch stitching over.  Use a medium stitching length and slowly sew over the patch, turning with the shape of the patch.  It will be important to know where your needle is positioned and the line you are working with on the sewing machine.

Once stitched all around, pull the patch out from under the needle and foot of the machine and trim excess threads.
